What We Do

The members of the North Carolina Association of Community College Safety and Security Officials (ACCSSO), in partnership with the Environmental Health and Safety Institute (EHSI) are committed to working together to ensure that all fifty-eight community colleges and technical institutes are able to provide their respective institutions with the highest levels of safety and security.

Our Mission

The mission of the North Carolina Association of Community College Safety and Security Officials (ACCSSO) is to:

  • Establish safety, security, and emergency management best practices and guidelines.

  • Provide and participate in quality educational programs and other professional development opportunities for all members.

  • Support each other through networking and sharing of knowledge, experience, resources, leadership/organizational skills, and trade skills.

“Safety is something that happens between your ears, not something you hold in your hands.”

— Jeff Cooper

What We’ve Achieved

  • Contacted and recruited multiple safety and security officials across the NC Community College System.

  • Created a community for safety and security officials from all 58 NC Community Colleges to communicate and help each other.

  • Successfully hosted our first ACCSSO Conference and will continue to do so yearly.

  • Acquired our first vendor.

  • Created committees that members can join and help ACCSSO grow and improve.
