ARC Flash NFPA 70E/Electrical Safety: This session will cover the basics of electrical safety and recognizing potential hazards in the workplace. Electrical safety is focused on safety-related work practices from OSHA Subpart “S.” Training will include Arc Flash Awareness, NFPA 70E, what an arc flash is, and proper work procedures and PPE to protect electrical workers.
Asbestos Awareness: Asbestos can cause disabling respiratory disease and various types of cancer if fibers are inhaled. This presentation will teach employees about asbestos, where it is typically found, potential health effects from exposure, and work practices that can help minimize potential exposure.
Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Prevention Refresher: This course is for employees who may have occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials. The refresher will cover exposure prevention, universal precautions, and safe work practices.
Chemical Hazard Communication & Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Prevention Refresher (For Existing NC Community College Employees): This course is a safety refresher for CC faculty and staff who have previously completed OSHA Training Parts 1 and 2. The refresher includes OSHA-required annual bloodborne pathogens awareness training and a review of chemical hazard communication and safety practices.
Chemical Hygiene and Lab Safety: Intended for faculty members who work in science labs, this training will cover best practices in laboratory management and laboratory safety. Topics will include chemical safety, chemical storage, hazard communication and labeling, and spill response and waste management.
Fall Protection and Ladder Safety (Includes Slips, Trips, and Falls): This session will cover the prevention of slips, trips, falls, and ladder-related injuries. Training will include fall prevention, ladder safety, and recognizing common fall hazards.
Flammable Liquids Safety- Class B Fire Prevention and Extinguishment: This session will cover safe handling and storage of flammable liquids commonly found in community college shops, labs, and maintenance areas. Training will include Class B fire prevention and extinguishment.
Golf Carts and Side-by-Side Safety: This session will cover basic safety practices for employees who operate golf carts and side-by-side vehicles on campus. Training will include safe operation, passenger safety, and working safely around pedestrians.
Hazard Recognition & Accident Prevention for Trades Part 1: This course is geared toward instructors in vocational trades including but not limited to welding, machining, automotive/autobody, carpentry, and HVAC. Part 1 will cover electrical safety, ladder safety, and machine guarding.
Hazard Recognition & Accident Prevention for Trades Part 2: This course is geared toward instructors in vocational trades, including but not limited to welding, machining, automotive/autobody, carpentry, and HVAC. Part 2 will cover chemical labeling and storage, basic spill response, and fire prevention.
Holiday Safety: This session will cover common safety concerns during the holiday season. Topics will include fall prevention, electrical safety, fire prevention, and holiday decorating safety.
Lockout-Tagout for Authorized Employees: This course is intended for employees who service or maintain equipment that may unexpectedly start or release stored energy. Training will cover hazardous energy sources and basic lockout-tagout procedures for authorized employees.
OSHA Training for New CC Employees Part 1 (For New NC Community College Employees): Newly hired NC community college employees who require training in several important OSHA standards will find this two-part series interesting and informative. Part 1 of this series will cover chemical hazard communication, bloodborne pathogen awareness, slips, trips, and falls, fall prevention, and ladder safety.
OSHA Training for New CC Employees Part 2 (For New NC Community College Employees): Newly hired NC community college employees who require training in several important OSHA standards will find this two-part series interesting and informative. Part 2 of this series will cover personal protective equipment, basic electrical safety, fire prevention, and fire extinguisher usage and limitations.
Safety Overview for Groundskeepers: This session will cover basic training on preventing employee injuries while performing groundskeeping tasks. Training will include heat illness awareness and the safe use of landscaping equipment.
